FIRST Robotics Competition Volunteer Roles
The following are event volunteer roles for the FIRST Robotics Competition. Each role links to the role description that includes responsibilities and any experience that is needed. For a complete list of volunteer role descriptions for FIRST Robotics Competition, please view the FIRST Robotics Competition Volunteer Role Descriptions document. To learn more about FIRST Robotics Competition, visit the FIRST Robotics Competition Game and Season page.
If you would like to volunteer for a FIRST event, sign up or login on the FIRST Dashboard to apply. All volunteers must be screened as part of the FIRST Youth Protection Program. Volunteers can search for the events by selecting “Event volunteers” and then filtering to the “FIRST Robotics Competition” events, and finding events close to them or can reference our Step-by-Step Instructions.
FIRST is committed to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion and as such, FIRST strives to make reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities that request accommodation. If a participant needs an accommodation for an event, please reach out to the Volunteer Coordinator prior to the event so they can help ensure an accommodation is available and that the role is the right fit. Accommodations are determined reasonable given they do not create an undue hardship or cause safety concerns.
*Volunteer Minimum Age Requirement: The minimum age requirement for a FIRST volunteer is 13 years old. A minor must have a parent or guardian give written permission to volunteer and minors must work in pairs as assigned by FIRST in accordance with the FIRST Youth Protection Program policy.
These visuals are a quick snapshot that outlines some of the FIRST Robotics Competition Volunteer Paths. Please remember that your path may vary and volunteering in one role does not directly lead to you volunteering in the next role. Consult with your local Volunteer Coordinator to establish a plan that works best for you.
