We are very sorry to announce that Jessica Jankowitsch will be leaving the role of FIRST Robotics Competition Co-Chief Volunteer Coordinator. Over the past year in her role, Jess has been a very valuable resource to all of FIRST but especially to Rookie Volunteer Coordinators. Jess has worked hard to make Championship volunteering a smooth and enjoyable transition from one Championship to two. While Jess will no longer be Co-Chief Volunteer Coordinator, she will be continuing to help FIRST with her amazing work through FIRST in Texas.
We are happy to announce that we have a new Co-Chief Volunteer Coordinator for the 2018 FRC season and for the FIRST Championship.
Sarah Plemmons brings 11 years of FIRST experience to the role of Co-Chief Volunteer Coordinator. Sarah started as a mentor for her son’s FRC team, Team 1902 Exploding Bacon, in 2006. Once Sarah’s son graduated from high school she expanded her involvement to supporting the Florida Regional (now the Orlando Regional) as a volunteer, a member of the Regional Planning Committee and a member of the 501c3 Florida FIRST Robotics Education Foundation. She has been a Championship Volunteer Coordinator since 2009 working both in the pits and on the fields as well as assisting with assignments prior to the big events. While the Orlando Regional is her home event, she has helped launch several other Regional events.
Sarah joined Martin Marietta, now Lockheed Martin, as an engineer in 1980 and is now an Operations Analyst. She graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. #FIRSTLikeAGirl
